Loren Salazar has been a member of the NASA Fine Arts Program since 1992.
Bob Schulmer, Director of NASA Art Program awarded Salazar
official member artists status.
Salazar's first NASA assignment was to paint images from "STS-61", the mission to repair the
Hubble
Space Telescope. He accompanied NASA Chief Artist, and close personal friend and
mentor Andreas Nottebhom to the launch . Both
artists were awarded an exhibition of related
original paintings at the Museum Of Flight in Seattle, Washington the following year.
